Summer Car Travel Checklist

Ready to hit the road this summer? We are too! Before you leave for the lake up north or an adventure out west, it’s important to ensure that your car and your passengers are prepared so you have a safe, enjoyable journey with as few unpleasant surprises as possible. Here’s a list of steps to take before you depart.

  1. Have the Oil Changed – Also check the condition of the air filter and other fluid levels.
  2. Check the Air Conditioner – It should be blowing cold air
  3. Have the Battery Tested – Hot weather can put more demands on your battery than cold weather.
  4. Check the Tire Pressure – Don’t forget the spare.
  5. Top off the Washer Fluid – Remember the rear washer reservoir if the car has one.
  6. Check Wiper Blades – Are they more than a couple of years old? It’s a good idea to replace them.
  7. Inspect the Cabin Air Filter – A dirty or moldy air filter will smell bad and isn’t very healthy.
